Community Organizing

CHC holds monthly committee meetings to foster collaboration among consumers, family members, local organizations, and health care advocates. Committee members advance legislative and health system reform to expand access to quality, affordable health care. Together, members develop collective advocacy agendas and strategies for change.

Historically, Committee members have engaged in the following strategies to promote a health care system that is responsive to consumer needs:

• Orchestrating public meetings

• Organizing press conferences

• Directing letter writing campaigns

• Garnering media coverage

• Testifying at public hearings

• Participating on statewide committees

“What I really appreciate about the Consumer Health Coalition is that there is an agency out there who will deal with health issues and who will watch over what is going on.” – Evelyn Stypula, Pittsburgh, PA
